students going to college on a ?
hi. I’m writing a paper on college students and was hoping that someone could give me some percentages of students going to collage on scholarships. i would like the percentages based on all students, merit students, and athletic students.
(I.E.)
60% of collage students have scholarships, 25% of collage students have merit scholarships, 35% of collage students have athletic scholarships.
(THAT WAS ONLY AN EXAMPLE! I STILL NEED REAL STATISTICS!)
thanks for all the help!

Scholarships?
I am going to be a senior this year and wondered what scholarships are available to me right now…
I know of a few, such as the Coca Cola (which is closed at the moment), and some for certain colleges.
But I just wondered if anyone knew of any that are going on right now that I could go ahead and apply for.
Thank you very much!
(…and they would probably be acedemic scholarships…not athletic. It doesn’t matter if it is for a four year college or a two year. Either is fine)

Cal- Berkeley, University or Houston, University of Texas- Arlington, or University of Texas? Which Better?
Ok, so I live in Texas, but these are my 4 main schools. I am deaf with a Cochlear Implant and have a possibility of an athletic scholarship. I’ve heard deaf people who make good grades like I do get automatic scholarships. But I also have a question. If I go to Cal- Berkeley, will I get a scholarship also since I’m deaf and if my athletic scholarship is confirmed?
PS: I’m majoring either Engineering or Business. Not sure yet, though.

When sports are involved, are American colleges just part of the entertainment industry?
They pay kids with scholarships to entertain fans to make money, most of which gets reinvested in the sports programs to make more money.
All the while, they push kids into either athletic majors or sociology or something that requires little coursework. Many of them, like the University of Oklahoma, they are not even in with the rest of the students in their basic general education classes. They have sections of math English, history, and so on of just athletes.
Is this the business model of a serious learning institution or an entertainment company?

What can I do to get into a good college and earn a scholarship?
I want to go to an Ivy League university. I am involved in pleny of extracurricular activites, such as Debate. I am trying to take the most rigorous courses offered, and I always put effort into my work. The only classes I have that require athletic ability are one to two semesters of P.E. (I don’t have any more room on my schedule!) Is what I’m doing enough? What else do I need to do? Also, how can I earn a scholarship?

Can you get scholarships for Columbia University?
I’m in the 8th Grade and right now I’m taking Pre-Ap classes.
I have all A+’s right now.
But anyways, I really want to go to Columbia. :]
If I were to get a scholarships, can you use scholarships to get into Columbia?
I also heard that they give financial aid. Is that the only way to get into Columbia?
Ahh, I’m kind of confused about this whole money thing and going to college. Cause I don’t really come from a wealthy family and there’s no way I would afford Columbia..
This confused me a bit:
http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/finaid/eligibility/philosophy.php
The past where it says “Financial Aid at Columbia is need-based. There are no academic, athletic or talent-based institutional scholarships.” ??
Does that mean that you can only get financial aid if you need it?
If someone would just explain this to me, I’m a bit puzzled. xD
And maybe some ideas on how to get into Columbia?
